Police detain offender on suspicion of selling psychotropic substances in Sambir district

Law enforcers documented several facts of the sale of the psychotropic substance Alpha-PVP to residents of Sambir district. The suspect faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.

The dealer was exposed by criminal police operatives and investigators of the Sambir District Police Department.

According to law enforcement officers, the 32-year-old local resident was selling Alfa-PVP from hand to hand. After another sale, he was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers conducted an authorised search at the offender’s place of residence and seized psychotropic substances and other material evidence.

All seized items were sent to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 2 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The maximum penalty under this article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
