As the employees of police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1 previously established, the man was walking along the railway track, got under the wheels of the freight train wagons and died at the scene from the injuries he received.
The incident happened today, February 16, around 1:30 a.m. on a railway track within the village of Khyzhevychy, Lviv district. Law enforcement officers identified the deceased as a 47-year-old resident of Sambir district.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial unit of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway, water or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
