SBU liquidates clandestine laboratory for psychotropic substances production in Stryi region

Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, two residents of Sumy region were served a notice of suspicion. They are charged with illegal manufacture and storage with intent to sell psychotropic substances committed by a group of persons (Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

 

According to the investigation, in a village of Stryi district, a group of people set up a “laboratory” for the manufacture of amphetamine in a rented house. The men intended to sell the psychotropic substance.

The men received step-by-step instructions on how to produce the banned substance from the administrator of one of the Telegram channels associated with drug trafficking. The latter also provided the precursors from which the psychotropic substance was manufactured.

The suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.

During the searches at the place of illegal activity, more than 2 kg of suspected amphetamine, canisters, scales, tools and instruments for the manufacture of the substance were found and seized.

The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.

Investigative actions are ongoing, all persons involved are being identified, and a number of examinations have been ordered.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
