A former state cadastral registrar who made unauthorised changes to the automated system of the State Land Cadastre, correcting the geographical coordinates of land plots located in a mountain resort village, faces up to six years in prison.
The offender was exposed by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department under the supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
It was established that the former official made unauthorised changes to the automated system of the State Land Cadastre, namely, corrected the geographical coordinates of land plots located in the resort village of Slavske.
Thus, the rightful owner of a 0.5-hectare plot worth about UAH 660,000 was deprived of the opportunity to use her land, while five new plots were registered in the State Land Cadastre system.
The former official was served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1, Part 3 of Art. 362 (Unauthorised actions with information processed in electronic computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on carriers of such information, committed by a person who has the right to access it) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty facing the suspect is imprisonment for up to six years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
