The road accident occurred on 8 September at around 17.00 on a dirt road in a mountainous area near the village of Verkhnia Rozhanka, Stryi district.
Law enforcement officers preliminarily established that a 42-year-old local resident lost control of his homemade ATV, which overturned. As a result of the accident, the driver died at the scene from his injuries. Two of his passengers, children aged 5 and 8, were taken to hospital and released after being examined by doctors.
Investigators opened a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
