In Yavoriv Oblast, 16 people were injured as a result of minibus overturning

It is preliminarily established that the vehicle overturned as a result of the bus driver trying to avoid a collision with a passenger car, the driver of which grossly violated the requirements of the Traffic Rules.

The traffic accident occurred on March 12, at 5:40 p.m., on the Lviv-Krakowets highway near the village of Cholgyni, Yavoriv district.

As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the “Etalon” shuttle bus, a 65-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, then onto the side of the road, where the vehicle overturned.

As a result of the accident, the bus driver and 15 of his passengers aged 16 to 65, all residents of the Lviv region, were injured and taken to medical facilities.

It was also established that the bus driver tried to avoid a collision with a Volkswagen Phaeton driven by a 31-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Yavoriv district, who grossly violated the requirements of the Traffic Rules by leaving the secondary road.

The driver of the car fled from the scene, but was soon detained by employees of the response sector of the patrol police of the Yavoriv district police department.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Yavoriv district police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
