Under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Environmental Prosecutor’s Office (as a department) of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 55-year-old head of a section of a utility company in Yavoriv district was served a notice of suspicion.
He is charged with pollution of land with substances and waste harmful to the environment as a result of violation of special rules, which created a danger to the environment and official negligence (Part 1 of Article 239, Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect repeatedly dumped garbage outside the land plot allocated for the maintenance of the solid waste landfill.
Such actions caused contamination and pollution of the land adjacent to the landfill with substances harmful to the environment in the Zaluzhske village council of Yavoriv district.
The damage caused is estimated at almost half a million hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police of the region under the materials and operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
