The accident occurred on August 2 at about 15:10 on the Lviv-Shehyni highway near the village of Tvirzha, Yavoriv district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a ZIL-131 truck, a 67-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control of the vehicle, collided with an electric pole and overturned into a ditch. In addition to the driver, there were two other men in the truck’s cab, residents of the district aged 61 and 36. As a result of the accident, the driver and the younger passenger were injured, and the older passenger died at the scene.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
