Police in Zolochiv district are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene

The road accident occurred on 5 June, at around 23.00, between the villages of Stovpyn and Perevolochna in Zolochiv district. As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, an unknown driver of an unidentified vehicle hit a 64-year-old resident of the district and fled the scene.

As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was injured and hospitalised.

Investigators of the Zolochiv District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

A range of operational and investigative measures are being taken, and law enforcement officers are establishing the identity of the driver who committed the accident and the location of the vehicle.
