Resident of Lviv region to be tried for illegal sale of weapons and ammunition via specialised website

Prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment against a 33-year-old man to court. He is charged with possession of ammunition, sale of firearms and ammunition, as well as manufacturing of ammunition and processing of firearms (Part 1 of Article 263, Part 1, 2 of Article 263-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in the summer of this year, the accused organised the illegal processing and sale of firearms and ammunition in the territory of Stryi district.

To do this, he placed an advert for the sale of “goods” on a specialised website on the Internet. After payment to the card, the man twice sent the order to the “client” by mail under an assumed name.

Thus, it was documented that the offender sent more than 250 rounds of ammunition and firearms (a noise gun converted into a “combat” gun) to a resident of Stryi district.

During the searches at the man’s place of residence, the SBU found and seized a batch of ammunition ready for sale.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the region, with operational support from the operatives of the Special Investigation Department of the same police department.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
