Brody resident exposed for illegal sale of weapons and ammunition via specialised website
Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a 33-year-old resident of Brody was exposed and served a notice of suspicion of possession and sale of firearms and ammunition without a permit (Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect organised the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition in July and August this year.
To do this, he placed an advert for the sale of “goods” on a specialised website on the Internet. After payment to the card, the man twice sent the order to the “client” by mail under an assumed name.
Thus, it was documented that the offender sent more than 350 rounds of ammunition and firearms (a modified stun gun) to a resident of Stryi district.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
In the course of searches at the suspect’s place of residence, the law enforcement officers found and seized a batch of ammunition ready for sale.
The investigation is ongoing. A number of examinations have been ordered.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators and operatives of the Stryi District Police Department No. 3 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
