A minor resident of Lviv ten times provided false reports of bomb threats at various facilities

A minor, who ten times provided false reports of bomb threats to various objects, will be tried in Lviv

 

It has been established that in February-April this year, the offender sent e-mails informing about bomb threats to educational institutions and shopping and entertainment centers located in Lviv.

Law enforcement officers responded to each such message – explosive experts, investigative teams and officers of other police services of Lviv region worked at the specified addresses, inspections, surveys, evacuations were conducted, and the work of the institutions was suspended.

The offender, a 16-year-old resident of Zolochiv district, was exposed by criminal police operatives and investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, together with operatives of the Cybercrime Department of the Lviv Police and officers of the SBU Office in Lviv region, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Knowingly false report of a threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage to property) has been completed. The indictments were sent to the court for consideration.

The accused is in custody and faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.
