A drunk driver caused an accident near the village of Hrebintsy, Lviv district

Police detain driver who caused an accident while being intoxicated in Lviv region

A minor passenger was injured as a result of the car rollover.

The accident occurred on 13 October, around 19.00, on the Kulykiv-Sulymiv road near the village of Hrebintsy, Lviv district.

Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Peugeot Expert, a 24-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control and drove into a ditch, where the car overturned.

As a result of the accident, the passenger of the car, a 16-year-old resident of a village in Lviv district, was injured and hospitalised.

It was established that the driver was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.

Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
