Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two employees of one of the customs posts of the Lviv Customs Service of the State Customs Service were exposed and notified of suspicion of abuse of office and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, state inspectors of the customs clearance department assisted citizens in evading mandatory customs payments. In November 2021, officials seven times, without reason, under the guise of empty, let vehicles containing auto parts, household appliances and other goods into the territory of Ukraine, without paying any customs fees.
As a result of such actions, losses in the amount of more than UAH 1.5 million were caused to the state.
Investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved, and the involvement of other persons in the commission of the crime is also being established.
The prosecutor’s office carried out the denunciation operation together with the investigators of the Territorial Department of the DBR, located in the city of Lviv, and employees of the Internal Security Department of the Lviv Customs.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
