Two men who set up an underground “laboratory” for the production of psychotropic drugs to be tried in Stryi region

Prosecutors of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office have sent to court an indictment against two natives of Sumy region. They are both charged with the illegal manufacture and storage of psychotropic substances with intent to sell and on an especially large scale, purchase, storage of precursors, equipment for the manufacture of psychotropic substances (Part 3 of Article 307, Part 3 of Article 311, Part 2 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). One of them is additionally charged with the acquisition and storage of psychotropic substances in particularly large amounts without the purpose of sale (Part 3 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that the 20- and 21-year-old men set up a “laboratory” for the manufacture of amphetamine. For this purpose, they rented a house in one of the villages of Stryi district. The men intended to sell the psychotropic substance.

The defendants received step-by-step instructions on how to produce the prohibited substance from the administrator of one of the Telegram channels associated with the distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The administrator also provided the defendants with precursors from which the psychotropic substance was manufactured.

During the searches, the following substances were found and seized: amphetamine psychotropic substance weighing over 357 grams, precursor used for the manufacture of psychotropic substances, equipment for the manufacture of psychotropic substances. In addition, a psychotropic substance “PVP” was seized from one of the defendants.

In total, the amount of prohibited substances seized was over UAH 125 thousand.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
