Eleven customers of one of Lviv’s cafes were hospitalized due to charche poisoning

In total, eleven people, including two children, were hospitalized in Lviv hospitals with preliminary diagnoses of “acute intestinal infection” and “bacterial intestinal infection.” The condition of all patients is stable.

On June 12, the operative line 102 received a report that five Lviv residents – four adults and one child – were brought to one of the Lviv hospitals with a preliminary diagnosis of “acute intestinal infection”. As the employees of police department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 previously established, the hospitalized citizens ate at various times in one of the cafes located on Chervonaya Kalyna Avenue in Lviv. The condition of the patients is stable.

On the same day, the police received another report from doctors about the hospitalization of six residents of Lviv – five adults and one child – with a preliminary diagnosis of “bacterial intestinal infection” in a specialized hospital. The condition of the patients is stable. As previously established by the employees of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, the hospitalized citizens ate during a banquet in one of the Lviv restaurants.

Based on these facts, the investigators of the territorial units of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 325 (Violation of sanitary rules and regulations regarding the prevention of infectious diseases and mass poisoning). The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine from one thousand to three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for a term of up to six months, or restriction of freedom for a term of up to three years, or deprivation of liberty for the same term.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the events, examinations have been ordered, and pre-trial investigations are being conducted.
