Since the beginning of the probationary period in Lviv Oblast, the police opened 52 criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal sowing of hypnotic poppy and hemp
Law enforcement officers warn citizens to prevent the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants of hypnotic poppy and hemp in homesteads, cottages and other places, as well as the administrative and criminal liability provided for such offenses.
So, on July 14, in the city of Busk, Zolochiv district, a district police officer of police department No. 2 of the Zolochiv district police department found a sown poppy plant on the homestead of one of the households. The investigative and operative group of the territorial division of the police worked at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers seized about 350 drug-containing plants and sent them for expert examination.
According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 310 (Sowing or cultivation of hypnotic poppy or hemp) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of one hundred to five hundred tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for a term of up to six months, or restriction of freedom for a term of up to three years. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
We will remind that in Lviv Oblast, the police are carrying out a complex of operational and preventive measures under the conditional name “Poppy”, the purpose of which is to identify and destroy illegal crops of blood-bearing plants – hypnotic poppy and hemp, as well as to block the channels of their entry into illegal circulation.
