During the inspection of the car at one of the checkpoints in Lviv, the police found 500 liters of alcohol, the Patrol Police reported.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz Vito did not have any documents for transporting alcohol and could not explain to law enforcement officers where he got the bottles from, the police press service reported on Wednesday, July 20.
Around 10:00 p.m., at one of the checkpoints (the police do not disclose information on which one exactly), law enforcement officers stopped a Mercedes-Benz Vito bus driven by a 33-year-old man from Lviv. During the inspection of the car, the police found 50 boxes of bottles.
“The husband had no documents for the cargo. When asked what he was transporting, the driver became visibly nervous. The 33-year-old driver opened one of the boxes. It contained bottles with liquid, with a characteristic smell of excise-free ethyl alcohol,” the police said.
