A man was sentenced to 7 years in prison for breaking the skull of a visitor during a fight in Strya cafe

A 30-year-old resident of the Volyn region was found guilty of intentional grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) according to a public indictment by the Stryi district prosecutor’s office.

He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that a group of men drank alcoholic beverages in one of the local cafes in Stryi. The accused also entered this cafe together with his acquaintances.

A verbal altercation broke out between the men, during which the convict and a 33-year-old local resident started pushing each other. They were reassured by friends. However, the convict decided that the conflict was not over, approached the victim and deliberately punched him in the face.

As a result of the blow, the victim suffered a fracture of the base and vault of the skull and swelling of the brain. The latter was hospitalized with his injuries. However, after 8 days, the man died from the injuries.
