At the request of the Lviv regional police investigators, the Radekhiv District Court imposed a pre-trial restraint on the 36-year-old in the form of detention without the possibility of bail.
On 4 October this year, an attacker took the lives of a woman and a man in Sheptytskyi district: A 51-year-old local resident was shot dead on the territory of his own farm, and police found the body of his 48-year-old wife in the house – also without signs of life, with head injuries. The entire police force of Lviv, Rivne and Volyn regions was deployed to search for the attacker. Complex, lengthy searches were conducted, hundreds of gigabytes of video were studied, and more than a thousand people were questioned as witnesses.
On 3 November, the offender was detained in Volyn. After a failed attempt to break into someone else’s home, the suspect shot himself in the head. He was hospitalised before a pre-trial restraint was imposed – his life and health are currently not in danger.
At the request of the investigators, the suspect will be held in custody for 60 days during the pre-trial investigation without the possibility of bail.
Law enforcement officers in Lviv region are charging him with several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
– Article 115 (2) (1) – intentional murder of two persons;
– Article 185(4) – theft;
– Part 2 of Art. 289 – illegal seizure of a vehicle.
The man faces life imprisonment.
