Beating a minor – case against lawyer sent to court

The juvenile prosecutor of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office in Lviv has completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment against the lawyer to court.

He is accused of gross violation of public order on the grounds of manifest disrespect for society, accompanied by particular audacity (part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in May this year in Lviv, the accused, being near one of the city’s hotel and educational complexes, began to use obscene language to a minor, humiliating his honour and dignity.

Later, ignoring the requests of the victim and passers-by to stop the conflict, the man hit the boy in the face and groin, causing him to fall to the ground.

However, the accused did not stop there and struck about 30 more punches to the victim’s body and kicked him in the face. As a result, the minor sustained light injuries.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the LRUP No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
