The traffic accident happened today, September 5, around 1:50 a.m., on the highway “Kyiv – Chop” near the town of Skole, Stryi district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Škoda car, a 27-year-old local resident, lost control and drove into a ditch.
As a result of the accident, the passenger of the Skoda, a 30-year-old local resident, died of his injuries at the scene.
The driver was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
