The police are asking eyewitnesses of the road accident near the village of Rakovets in the Lviv Region to come forward, as a result of which a two-year-old boy died

As previously reported, the traffic accident occurred on August 29, around 12:00, on the highway “Kyiv-Chop” near the village of Rakovets, Lviv district.

As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Peugeot 407 car, a 43-year-old resident of Novy Rozdol, hit a two-year-old boy, a resident of a modular town in one of the villages of the Lviv district, who was in a stroller driven by his mother.

As a result of the accident, the child received injuries from which he died at the scene.

The driver of the car was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.

An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
