Despite the court ban, a man from the Lviv district continued to drive away and tried to bribe a police officer

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Zhovkiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a 25-year-old man was notified of suspicion of offering and providing illegal benefits to police officers (Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation established that in June of this year, in one of the villages of the Lviv district, patrol officers stopped a car driven by the suspect. During the verification of the driver’s personal data, the law enforcement officers established that in April of this year, according to the court verdict, the man was convicted for violating the rules of road traffic safety (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) with the appointment of a probationary period and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 2 years.

Later, the person involved, realizing that he had committed an offense and not wanting negative legal consequences for himself, including possible prosecution, offered and provided a bribe to a police officer. The suspect put 150 Euros in the pocket of the panel opposite the front passenger seat of the service car. The law enforcement officer refused the unlawful benefit and called the SOG.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the JI of the Police Department No. 1 of the LRUP No. 1 of the Provincial Government of Ukraine in the Lviv Region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
