Under the procedural leadership of the Halytskyi and Frankivskyi district prosecutor’s offices of the city of Lviv, two citizens of Ukraine were notified of suspicion. They are charged with the distribution and public use of communist symbols (Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, a resident of Lviv posted publications promoting communist ideology on the banned Odnoklasnyki social network. In particular, symbols in the form of the coat of arms of the USSR, portraits of Stalin, Brezhnev and others.
Another Lviv resident in the same social network shared posts with communist symbols in the form of a hammer and sickle and positively highlighted the ideas of communism.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Lviv District Departments No. 1 and 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region, operational support is provided by the SBU Department in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
