Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, four citizens were served a notice of suspicion of illegal acquisition, storage and sale of drugs (Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, a group of people set up drug trafficking to a prison. During August-November 2024, the group members systematically sold drugs in the Lviv Penitentiary No. 19.

Three members of the group purchased prohibited substances “on the outside” and delivered them to the guarded area of the institution by hiding them in food parcels addressed to the prisoner.

The other accomplice, who was in the SIZO, controlled the process of ordering, delivering and distributing drugs to prisoners.

At the request of the prosecutors, the court imposed on the suspects a measure of restraint.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support provided by the SBU Office in the region and the operational department of the Lviv Penitentiary No. 19.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
