Since the beginning of the year, the court found 13 citizens of Ukraine guilty of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (part 1 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2) Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They were sentenced to 13 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Prosecutors proved that in February 2022, before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the convicts, residents of the Luhansk region, voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy and joined the illegal paramilitary formation of the so-called “LPR”.
After the start of the armed aggression, they performed combat missions on the territory of the Kharkiv region.
At the beginning of September 2022, during hostilities on the line of direct armed conflict, they were taken prisoner as part of the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the SBU Directorate in the Lviv region.
