Eight people were growing and selling cannabis in Lviv region

Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, the activities of a criminal organisation engaged in the production, storage, transfer and sale of a particularly dangerous drug were terminated (Part 1, 2 Article 255, Part 3 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, a resident of Lviv created a criminal organisation, which involved 7 other people, residents of Lviv region and a resident of Cherkasy.

In specially adapted premises and land plots, the group members organised the cultivation of a particularly dangerous drug – cannabis. The group members set up a continuous process of drug cultivation and production, which allowed them to manufacture and sell illegal substances throughout the year.

They sold drugs wholesale and retail in several regions of the country. They sold the “goods” by sending them through a postal operator.

It is preliminarily established that their monthly income was about UAH 2 million.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 30 kg of cannabis and about 400 cannabis bushes.

They also seized technological equipment of the drug lab, draft records, mobile phones and other material evidence.

In accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine, 8 members of the criminal organisation, including leaders and members of the group, were detained.

They were served a notice of suspicion and the most stringent measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail was chosen.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the National Police of the region, with the operational support of the Cybercrime Department in Lviv region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
