The perpetrators were exposed by the employees of the general criminal investigation department of the investigative department of the police of Lviv region together with the operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv specialized prosecutor’s office in the military and defense sphere of the Western region.
As the law enforcement officers established, a 35-year-old man from Lviv and his accomplice, a 25-year-old resident of the Yavoriv district, organized a scheme for a conscript to cross the state border of Ukraine during wartime for 4.5 thousand US dollars and undertook to ensure his transportation across the border.
On March 6, law enforcement officers detained the perpetrators in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, one of them – while receiving part of the funds in the amount of 4 thousand US dollars from the “client”.
The investigators informed the detainees about the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose preventive measures for the suspects.
