As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator demanded and received an illegal benefit in the amount of 700 US dollars from a resident of the Lviv region for the production of a sketch of the plans for the development of a plot of land for the construction of a new garden house.
The official was exposed by the investigators of the particularly serious crimes investigation department (detectives) of the investigative department of the police of the Lviv Region together with the operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The attacker received the funds in two “tranches” in the amount of USD 200 and USD 500.
On July 27, after receiving the second part of the bribe, law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized.
The detainee was informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
