The perpetrator, a 34-year-old resident of Sambor, and his two accomplices, a 41-year-old resident of Yavorivsky District and a 44-year-old resident of Sambor, were exposed by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Oblast Police together with operatives of the criminal police and investigators of the Yavorivsky District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Western region
During the authorized searches, in which the fighters of the KORD special unit were involved, the law enforcement officers discovered and seized grenades, an assault rifle, a pistol, 360 cartridges of various calibers, as well as money received from the sale of weapons.
The organizer was detained by the law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine during another sale of weapons.
He was notified of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to seven years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the weapon.
