The specialized environmental prosecutor’s office (as a department) of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office managed to recover almost UAH 300,000 in damages caused to the state as a result of violating the requirements of environmental protection legislation due to pollution and clogging of the land plot with the remains of domestic and industrial waste.
It was established that the State Environmental Inspection conducted a number of inspections regarding compliance with the requirements of environmental protection legislation in the conduct of economic activity at one of the companies of the Lviv region.
However, it was proven that the business entity systematically violated the established requirements. In particular, he did not carry out radiometric control of soils for contamination with household waste. And also the remains of household and industrial waste are improperly stored. As a result, the quality of the land deteriorated.
The specialized environmental prosecutor’s office (as a department) of the Lviv regional prosecutor’s office appealed to the Economic Court of the Lviv region with a claim for recovery of damages, which was satisfied.
