Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a resident of Sambir Oblast was detained and informed of suspicion for the fact of secret theft of petroleum products by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy (Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, a 19-year-old resident of the Sambir district of the Lviv region organized the mechanism of theft of oil products from the pipelines of PJSC “Ukrnafta” in the territory of the region’s forests. He recruited accomplices for criminal activities. Later, the perpetrators made a cut in the oil pipeline, pumped out diesel fuel, poured it into plastic barrels and dumped it.
One of the defendants was arrested “red handed” in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, during another theft of fuel from an oil pipeline in the amount of about 2 tons for a total amount of over 100 thousand UAH. Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved. Other persons involved in the crime are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Lviv Region, under the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv Region of the SSR of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
