Robbery and theft – in the Lviv region, the police exposed an intruder who committed two crimes within two days

For what he committed, the suspect, a 45-year-old resident of Lviv, who has previously been held criminally liable on several occasions, faces up to fifteen years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the employees of police department No. 2 of Lviv district police department No. 1 established, on April 21, at lunchtime in the city of Rava-Ruska, an attacker, a 45-year-old resident of Lviv, struck the head of a pensioner from whom he rented an apartment. When the woman fell unconscious, the assailant took off her wedding ring and earrings and fled. Later, he handed over the jewelry to a pawn shop.

As a result of the impact, the pensioner received serious injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

Criminal police operatives and investigators of police department No. 2 of Lviv district police department No. 1 were involved in solving the crime.

Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the attacker, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article envisages punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of eight to fifteen years with confiscation of property.

In addition, during the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers established that the next day, the suspect, who had previously been brought to criminal responsibility several times, in particular for robbery, committed another crime – illegally seized funds in the amount of more than 9 thousand hryvnias, which belonged to a resident of the city of Rava-Ruska.

Based on this fact, he was informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment that threatens the suspect under this article is up to eight years of imprisonment.

The court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect, the investigation is ongoing.
