Former cadastral registrar illegally registered five land plots in Slavske

Land fraud uncovered in resort village – former cadastral registrar suspected

Under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a former state cadastral registrar of one of the departments of the StateGeoCadastre in Lviv region was served a notice of suspicion.

He is charged with unauthorised changes to the information processed in automated systems, which caused significant damage (Art. 362 (1), (3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the defendant illegally changed the coordinates of the boundaries of a land plot located in Slavske village, Stryi district, which belonged to a local resident. As a result, this plot was transferred to communal land in the StateGeoCadastre system, and 5 other plots were registered in its place. These “new” plots had different owners and a different purpose – for the construction and maintenance of a residential building.

As a result of such actions by the cadastral registrar, the real owner was effectively deprived of her ownership of the land and prevented from using it for its intended purpose. The estimated value of the aforementioned land plot is UAH 660 thousand.

The registrar has now been dismissed from his position.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, based on the materials of the SBU Office in Lviv region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
