In Slavic region, an entrepreneur illegally built cottages near a mountain river

An entrepreneur from Slavic region is suspected of building cottages near a mountain river without permission

Under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, a 47-year-old businessman from the Slavske territorial community was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with unauthorised occupation of a land plot and unauthorised construction (Part 4 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect occupied a land plot next to the Yalynkuvata River without any permits for the purpose of construction.

It is a land plot of more than 0.13 hectares. Of these, 0.08 hectares are in the coastal protection zone of a mountain river. The businessman fenced this area with a concrete fence and began construction of garden houses – cottages.

By his actions, the suspect created a danger of disrupting the natural flow of the river and polluting the waters of the Yalynkuvata River, which belongs to the Dniester basin, which is an international river within Ukraine.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the court seized the land plot and the unfinished cottages.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Stryi Police Department No. 3 of the Main Department of the National Police of the region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
