SBU exposed millions of abuses during the reconstruction of the Cathedral of St. Yura in Lviv

The Security Service of Ukraine has blocked a large-scale embezzlement of budget funds intended for the restoration of the territory of the Archcathedral Cathedral of St. Yura in Lviv. Nothing sacred during the war – the attackers misappropriated more than UAH 2 million.

SBU operatives found that millions of budget funds allocated for the reconstruction of architectural monuments of national importance were misappropriated. The fraud was turned by one of the city’s construction companies, which won the tender. As it became known, the management of the organization included in the financial documentation inaccurate information about the scope and cost of work and materials.

A timely inspection initiated by the special services revealed abuses and blocked the theft of funds.
Currently, the head of the construction company has been informed about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Art. 191 (appropriation, misappropriation of property or taking it by abuse of office) and Part 1 of Art. 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Materials are being prepared to choose a measure of restraint for him.

Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the case and bring to justice other persons involved in the equipment.

The revelations were carried out by SBU officers in Lviv Oblast together with investigators from the Lviv Oblast Police under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
