Another channel of smuggling of persons liable for military service abroad is blocked by law enforcement officers in Lviv region

The organiser of the scheme, a 28-year-old resident of Vinnytsia region, received from his “clients” USD 5 to 10 thousand for the opportunity to illegally leave Ukraine.

It has been established that the suspect organised a scheme for men of military age to cross the state border of Ukraine during the period of martial law, entering their personal data into the relevant database. This allowed the “clients” to cross the state border of Ukraine with the countries of the European Union, after which some of them did not return.

The offender was exposed by operatives of the Migration Police Department in Lviv region jointly with investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department and servicemen of the 7th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.

He was served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 3 Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
