The lion’s share of drug detections at the border is made with the use of dogs. Since the beginning of 2024, 15 offenders have been detained with their help.

This was reported to the Holos Sokalshchyny by the State Border Guard Service of Lviv Oblast.

This year, border guard sniffer dogs helped to detect almost 13 kg of drugs in 102 cases and detain 15 offenders.

Border guard dog handlers of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment are constantly working to improve the skills of their dogs. Dogs of six breeds currently serve in the detachment’s area of responsibility. Dogs are currently the best biological indicator for detecting illicit drugs.
