The prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against the 23-year-old prisoner on the facts of spreading criminal influence and demanding a non-existent debt (Part 2 of Article 255-1, Part 1 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the native of Rivne region, while serving his fifteen-year sentence for intentional murders in the colony, received the status of “watcher of the block”. The convict illegally spread criminal influence on the territory of the penal institution, ensured the filling of the so-called obschak. In particular, the person involved, threatening with physical violence, forced another convict to pay a non-existent debt – to throw himself into the community with money.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, under the operational support of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Department in the Lviv region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
