The specialized environmental prosecutor’s office discovered the fact of illegal sand mining in the Lviv region

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, during the pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings under part 4 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the fact of illegal mining of minerals in the territory of one of the villages of the Yavoriv district was exposed.

It was established that illegal sand mining was carried out on a land plot with a total area of ​​more than 300 square meters without appropriate special permits, a mining right-of-way and a deposit development plan.

According to the results of the investigation, sand samples, a tractor and two trucks were seized.

Investigations are currently ongoing. Issues regarding the appointment of a number of examinations and the identification of persons involved in the commission of the crime are being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Lviv Region based on the materials of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv Region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
