Young men from Chervonograd region mocked a 79-year-old fellow villager – tied him to a chair and beat him

The prosecutors of the Chervonograd District Prosecutor’s Office completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court against a 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman for robbery and illegal deprivation of liberty (Part 4 of Article 187, Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that two local residents attacked a 79-year-old man in one of the villages of the Chervonograd district.

The accused came to the pensioner’s home, knocked on the door, when the man opened it, the 19-year-old suspect punched him in the face. After that, the accomplices dragged the older man to one of the rooms, sat him on a chair and tied his hands with a sheet. At the same time, one of the accused began to beat him with his fists and demand all his savings from the latter.

After numerous tortures, the exhausted victim gave over UAH 18,000 to the accused.

However, the accomplices did not stop there, but threw the elderly man into the cellar, on the door of which they placed a chair so that he could not get out.

The latter, with serious injuries, escaped after some time.

At the prosecutor’s request, two defendants were remanded in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Chervonograd district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict
