Tragedy in Lviv: Elderly Woman Killed by a Trolleybus on Stryiska Street

In the city of Lviv, a tragic incident occurred on February 7th at 14:10 at a public transport stop located on Stryiska Street. As a result of a trolleybus hitting her, a critical situation ensued, leading to the death of a woman.

According to preliminary data from the police, a 37-year-old Skoda trolleybus driver, residing in the Lviv district, was disembarking passengers and set off without ensuring the space next to the trolleybus was clear of passengers. This led to a 73-year-old female passenger getting caught by the handrails and losing her balance, falling directly under the wheels of the vehicle.

The adverse consequences of the driver’s actions led to the woman’s death under hospital conditions. Consequently, law enforcement has initiated criminal proceedings under an article that provides for a punishment of 3 to 8 years of imprisonment with the possibility of a driving ban for up to 3 years.

The circumstances of this incident are being thoroughly investigated by the criminal division of the Lviv police, specializing in investigating crimes in the transport sector.
