Three law enforcers exposed in Lviv for provoking doctor to bribe her to get USD 30,000
Under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region, a criminal group of three law enforcement officers was served a notice of suspicion of completed attempted bribery provocation and fraudulent seizure of property committed in a particularly large scale (Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 2 of Art. 28 – Part 2 of Art. 370, Part 5 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, a 40-year-old chief state tax inspector together with two operatives suspected the head of a department of a Lviv hospital of receiving illegal earnings for the possibility of treatment in a medical institution.
It was established that they had found a pseudo-patient, equipped her with wiretapping equipment, provided her with money and sent her for a consultation. According to the plan, the latter had to agree to take a bribe for unimpeded treatment, and then provide the necessary extracts to extend the validity of the MSEC certificate of disability. The doctor refused to accept the money, so the fake person left it in the office.
After that, the suspects contacted the doctor and demanded USD 30 thousand for closing the criminal proceedings, which did not actually exist.
Law enforcers documented the criminal activity of the criminal group members. Pre-trial restraints have been imposed on all three.
It should be noted that two of them have already been dismissed from their positions, and the third has been suspended from duty.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv, with operational support from the State Bureau of Investigation.
