Three Accidents in Lviv Region: Injured Pedestrians and Police Investigation

Lviv Region Police urge pedestrians to strictly follow Traffic Rules, be attentive and careful, cross the road only at pedestrian crossings and on green light, use reflective elements in the dark and in conditions of poor visibility, and for drivers not to exceed the permissible speed, refrain from risky maneuvers, and be attentive when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings. Accident in Pustomyty

On February 25, around 15.40, on Lisnevitska Street in the city of Pustomyty, Lviv District, the driver of a VAZ 2107 car, a 62-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages, hit a 20-year-old resident of Sambir District. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized.

Accident on Stryiska Street in Lviv

Another traffic accident occurred around 08.40 on Stryiska Street in Lviv. As preliminarily established by law enforcement officers, the driver of a Fiat Ducato, a 36-year-old Lviv resident, hit a pedestrian, an 86-year-old resident of Lviv. As a result of the accident, the elderly woman sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

Accident on Franka Street in Lviv

Additionally, around 17.40 on Franka Street in Lviv, the driver of an Audi A4, a 25-year-old Lviv resident, hit a 55-year-old resident of Lviv. As a result of the accident, the woman sustained bodily injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Based on these facts, investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article’s sanction is up to three years of restraint of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the events.
