In Borislav, police promptly detained a suspect in a robbery attack on an elderly woman robbery

The detainee hit a 75-year-old local woman on the head with a rifle several times, confiscated money and a mobile phone. The victim was hospitalized with injuries

On May 28, at about 3 p.m., police received a report that a local woman had been robbed in the morning in an apartment on Shevchenko Street in Boryslav.

The investigative task force and other officers of the Drohobych District Police Department №1 arrived at the scene. According to the police, at about 9 am the attacker entered the apartment of a 75-year-old resident of Boryslav, attacked the woman and hit her several times with armor on the head. After that he seized the pensioner’s money and mobile phone and ran away. A woman with head injuries was hospitalized.

After examining video from surveillance cameras and conducting other operational and investigative measures, criminal police operatives soon identified the perpetrator, a 59-year-old resident of Boryslav, and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Material evidence was seized from the detainee.

Investigators of the territorial police department informed the malefactor about the suspicion of committing an offense under Part 4 of Article 187 (Robbery committed under martial law or state of emergency) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of eight to fifteen years with confiscation of property.

The court will soon choose a measure of restraint for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement officers once again remind that in martial law conditions for theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, misappropriation of property or taking it by abuse of office, there are maximum penalties.
