The road accident occurred on 22 October, at around 12.30, at the intersection of Zaliznychna and Kozhezivskoho streets in Brody, Zolochiv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a BMW, a 65-year-old local resident, hit a pedestrian, a 76-year-old resident of Lviv.
As a result of the accident, the elderly pedestrian was injured and hospitalised.
Investigators of the Zolochiv District Police Department No. 1 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
