According to the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Chervonograd District Prosecutor’s Office, the court found a local resident guilty of illegal acquisition and storage of firearms and ammunition, as well as public use of the symbols of the communist totalitarian regime (Part 1 of Article 263, Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). .
He was sentenced to 5 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Prosecutors proved that in February 2022, before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, the man hung a flag with communist symbols on the balcony of his apartment.
During the search of his apartment and garage, law enforcement officers seized “Molotov cocktails”, a rifle butt, an unregistered hunting weapon, cartridges for smooth-bore and rifled combat weapons. In addition, the man also found samples of law enforcement uniforms, communist and pro-Russian symbols, magazines with “Russian peace” propaganda, as well as knives and various special tools (in particular, handcuffs, electric shock).
The accused will be in custody until the verdict becomes final.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the Chervonograd Regional Office of the State Police of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast based on the materials of the Chervonograd Regional Office of the Ukrainian Security Service in Lviv Oblast.
