In Drohobych, a 3-year-old boy fell out of a window

The law enforcement officers of the Lviv region once again urge: do not leave minor children unattended even for a short time. Remember that mosquito nets do not prevent falls.

On June 14, around 8:15 p.m., the police received a report that a minor child fell out of a window on Ivan Franko Street in Drohobych.

An investigative-operational group and employees of other services of the Drohobytsky district police department worked on the spot. As the law enforcement officers established, while the adults were not in the room, the 3-year-old child climbed onto the windowsill and fell together with the mosquito net from the third floor.

His mother, as well as his grandmother and three other children were in the apartment at the time.

As a result of the fall, the boy received multiple injuries and was hospitalized.

Investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Article 166 (Malicious failure to fulfill duties to care for a child or a person for whom guardianship or custody is established) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – restriction of liberty for a period of two to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same period.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The police of the Lviv region once again urge: do not leave minor children unattended even for a short time. Even if the windows are equipped with mosquito nets, they will not hold the child. When entering from a room where there is a child, be sure to close the windows and balcony doors. Move away from the windows objects that the child can use to climb onto the windowsills – tables, chairs, bedside tables, various boxes, etc. Also install special safety locks on windows and balcony doors so that the child cannot open them independently.
