On July 5, the police received a report that an unknown person stole a box for collecting donations in one of the shops on Sichovy Streltsiv Street in Drohobych.
The investigative and operative group and other employees of the Drohobytsky district police department worked at the scene of the incident. As the law enforcement officers established, the box contained funds intended for the treatment of a seriously ill woman.
After studying the recordings from the video surveillance cameras, the operatives of the criminal police established the identity of the intruder involved in the crime, a 48-year-old local resident, and his whereabouts.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobytsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense, provided for in Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article is up to eight years of imprisonment.
Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
